The Tamil Nadu Hotels Association has called on the central government to retract an order directing oil marketing companies to halt the supply of commercial LPG cylinders. This directive, influenced by the ongoing Middle East conflict, is set to severely impact hotels and eateries, and the employment they generate.

M Venkadasubbu, the association's president, highlighted the sector's reliance on commercial gas cylinders, expressing concerns that continued disruptions could lead to widespread closures. He urged immediate action to ensure uninterrupted delivery to prevent a significant blow to the industry and its workforce.

The call to action comes as the government also leveraged emergency powers to boost domestic LPG production in the face of rising energy costs, leading to price increases for both domestic and commercial gas cylinders.
