A tragic incident unfolded in Mumbai's Santacruz area when a 41-year-old man, Arun Tiwari, succumbed to his injuries after a BEST bus accident. Compounding the tragedy, his family claims that a delayed ambulance transfer from the civic-run V N Desai Hospital prevented timely medical intervention at a private facility.
The incident occurred on a Saturday night when Tiwari's motorcycle skidded on a pothole, causing him to fall onto the road, where he was run over by a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport bus. Despite being rushed to V N Desai Hospital, his family's request for an ambulance to shift him to Lilavati Hospital was met with inaction, leading to a fatal delay.
The victim's wife expressed her anguish, stating that his life could have been saved with prompt action. Locals reportedly assaulted the bus driver, who now faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
