The Railway Ministry has announced a major reform to elevate cleanliness standards on long-distance trains. Spearheaded by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the initiative entails utilizing tech-enabled professional teams to maintain hygiene in all train coaches continuously throughout their journeys. This shift marks a significant departure from the current Clean Train Station scheme, ensuring maintenance is conducted at hourly intervals or as needed.
In parallel, the ministry is introducing cargo-related reforms aimed at optimizing railway land usage. Facilities like warehouses and processing units will be established on spare land, turning underutilized spaces into Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals. This development is set to bolster the Railways' freight business substantially and simplify the integration process for sidings and private freight into these terminals.
Minister Vaishnaw emphasized the role of real-time monitoring and feedback in maintaining high standards. A structured policy for dispute prevention and resolution has been implemented, with authorities delegated to Divisional Railway Managers, ensuring smooth execution of these sweeping changes across the railway network.
