In a promising development for Manipur's economy, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla announced that the state's finances are on a robust path to recovery, with resources experiencing a marked increase over the past two years.
During an address at the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Bhalla revealed a noteworthy rise in the state's own resources, climbing from Rs 1,443 crore in 2023-24 to Rs 2,087 crore in 2024-25. This surge reflects a significant boost in the state's tax collection, which has substantially improved over the same period last year.
The governor highlighted key initiatives, including combating illicit drug production and modernizing police infrastructure, supported by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ approval of funding for security enhancements. Additionally, the state remains committed to resettling over 10,000 internally displaced families by 2026, aiming to restore dignity and security to its citizens.
