India's Logistics Sector on the Brink of Transformation by 2030

India's logistics sector is predicted to require an additional 47 lakh workers by the year 2030. To meet this burgeoning demand, significant skilling reforms and the creation of a digital workforce are imperative, according to a statement from a top official at the Logistics Sector Skill Council.

The sector experienced a robust hiring trend in 2025, with a reported 10.8% net employment growth in the latter half of the year. This indicates that numerous roles are being filled as the industry undergoes expansion. Ravikanth Yamarthy, CEO of the Logistics Sector Skill Council, highlighted the need for workforce development to support growth in freight, warehousing, transportation, and supply chain functions.

The Logistics Sector Skill Council has teamed up with LogiMAT India to address the talent gap and elevate India's global position in logistics. The LogiMAT India 2026 event, held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, is expected to draw participation from over 350 international brands. This collaboration emphasizes the sector's shift towards more sustainable, connected, and agile operations, reinforced by discussions on AI, robotics, and supply chain optimization.
