Raj Thackeray, leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, slammed the Maharashtra government on Thursday for its handling of a 33-hour traffic jam on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Thackeray expressed his dissatisfaction with the recurring congestion issues and criticized the government's disaster-management strategies.
Following an incident where a tanker carrying flammable gas overturned, the expressway was severely congested, causing a significant upheaval for commuters. While an inquiry has been ordered, Thackeray questioned whether any lessons are truly learned from such investigations.
Thackeray demanded that toll fees collected during the jam be refunded to the affected motorists. He called for a thorough action plan to prevent similar occurrences, emphasizing the need for prompt traffic solutions over mere toll collection efficiency.
