Nine workers tragically lost their lives when a truck they were aboard careened off a mountain road and plunged into a ravine in central Philippines. The incident occurred as the workers were en route back to their office after delivering crude oil.
The truck, loaded with five drums of crude oil, overshot the road and fell into a 30-meter-deep ravine in Bayawan city, Negros Oriental province. Despite good weather, the cause of the accident remained unclear at the time of reporting, according to police.
Authorities highlighted the Philippines' troubling history of fatal road accidents, citing weak enforcement of traffic laws, reckless driving, and inadequate road safety measures as persistent issues.
