The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is examining an incident involving a fuel control switch issue on an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The switch reportedly slipped from 'RUN' to 'CUT OFF' during a flight from London to Bengaluru. The DGCA suggests correct procedures may not have been followed.
Sources indicate the aircraft should have been grounded in London, but it continued to Bengaluru with over 200 passengers on board. The DGCA has called for a complete inspection of similar aircraft in Air India's fleet, checking for any anomalies with fuel control switches.
Air India's engineering team, after performing checks recommended by Boeing, observed no major issues with the switches. The DGCA has advised circulating proper operational procedures to Air India's crew, emphasizing the need to avoid improper handling of the fuel control switches.
