Adani Group and Italian aerospace giant Leonardo have unveiled a strategic partnership planned to revolutionize the helicopter manufacturing landscape in India. This new collaboration promises to boost India's 'Make In India' vision by enhancing its self-reliance in the essential military aviation sector.

Adani Defence & Aerospace and Leonardo formalized the partnership with a Memorandum of Understanding, targeting the Indian Armed Forces' needs for advanced models like the AW169M and AW109 TrekkerM helicopters. This venture is crafted to deliver phased indigenization, covering maintenance, repair, overhaul capabilities, and comprehensive pilot training.

The partnership responds to India's market requirement, which forecasts a need for approximately 100 helicopters annually over the next decade. This development follows a previous announcement of a strategic collaboration between Adani Defence & Aerospace and Brazilian company Embraer, aiming to establish a regional aircraft manufacturing facility in India.
