 A JetBlue Airways flight from Cancun to New Jersey was diverted to Tampa on Thursday after encountering a flight control issue, leading to several passenger injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the airline confirmed that the plane, JetBlue Flight 1230 – an Airbus 320, landed at Tampa International Airport at around 2:19 p.m. ET.
JetBlue reported that the aircraft experienced a sudden drop in altitude, prompting medical personnel to assess passengers and crew upon landing. Some required further medical care and were transported to a local hospital. The airline has not disclosed the number of injuries at this time.
The plane has been withdrawn from service for an inspection. JetBlue has initiated a full investigation to establish the cause of the flight control issue.
