India's Manufacturing Boom: A Closer Look at September's Growth
India's industrial production saw a 4% increase in September, led by the manufacturing sector's strong performance. This growth surpasses the previous year's 3.2% for the same month. Power production also improved, while mining faced a slight decline. The overall first-half growth was slightly lower than last year.

India's industrial production surged by 4% in September, primarily driven by robust manufacturing sector growth, revealed the official data released on Tuesday. This marks a notable improvement over the 3.2% expansion recorded during the same month last year.
The National Statistics Office (NSO) provided revised figures, indicating that August's production growth stood at 4.1%, slightly up from the earlier estimate of 4%. September's manufacturing output experienced a substantial increase of 4.8%, compared to 4% in September the previous year.
The report also highlighted that while mining production contracted by 0.4%, power production rose considerably by 3.1%, demonstrating significant progress from the 0.5% expansion achieved in the preceding year. Overall, the industrial production for the first half of FY26 grew by 3%, slightly trailing the 4.1% growth during the same period in the prior fiscal year.
