India's industrial production surged by 4% in September, primarily driven by robust manufacturing sector growth, revealed the official data released on Tuesday. This marks a notable improvement over the 3.2% expansion recorded during the same month last year.

The National Statistics Office (NSO) provided revised figures, indicating that August's production growth stood at 4.1%, slightly up from the earlier estimate of 4%. September's manufacturing output experienced a substantial increase of 4.8%, compared to 4% in September the previous year.

The report also highlighted that while mining production contracted by 0.4%, power production rose considerably by 3.1%, demonstrating significant progress from the 0.5% expansion achieved in the preceding year. Overall, the industrial production for the first half of FY26 grew by 3%, slightly trailing the 4.1% growth during the same period in the prior fiscal year.
