More than 1,400 flights faced delays on Monday, following over 8,600 late flights on Sunday, as a result of ongoing absences among air traffic controllers. These issues coincide with the federal government shutdown, now in its 27th day.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that staffing shortages were affecting flights in the southeastern United States, as well as at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. The situation is causing widespread travel disruptions across the nation.
The FAA also noted potential delays at Los Angeles International Airport, further exacerbating the challenges faced by travelers and airlines during this turbulent period.
