Khartoum Airport Reopening Delayed Amidst Drone Attacks
Sudan’s main airport in Khartoum faces delays in reopening due to recent drone attacks, highlighting the continuing conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces. Despite efforts to resume normal operations, security concerns persist amidst a backdrop of strategic military and civilian infrastructure attacks.
The reopening of Sudan's main airport in Khartoum has been postponed following drone attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday, as reported by a source from the airline to Reuters.
Initially shut down at the onset of conflict between the Sudanese army and Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the airport is central to the government's efforts to restore normalcy. The International Organization for Migration reports over 1 million people have returned to the capital.
The recent attacks have underscored ongoing vulnerabilities, with RSF threatening more assaults and the army alleging minimal damage. Domestic flights remain the focus as leaders navigate the turbulent political landscape.
