In a strategic shift, Hyundai Motor India Ltd has announced Tarun Garg as the new Managing Director and CEO, effective January 1, 2026. This decision is part of the company's succession planning, as confirmed by a recent regulatory filing.

Garg, who is currently the Chief Operating Officer, will be the first Indian to assume this leadership role at Hyundai's Indian arm. He will succeed the current MD and CEO, Unsoo Kim, who is returning to South Korea for a strategic position within the parent company.

Having joined Hyundai from Maruti Suzuki, Garg's career trajectory is notable; he started as a management trainee at Maruti and rose to Executive Director of Marketing. Until his full transition in 2026, Garg will serve as MD & CEO Designate, pending shareholder approval.
