In March 2026, India's telecom industry saw a significant expansion with the addition of 92.7 lakh subscribers, surpassing 133 crore in total users. According to the latest report by sector regulator Trai, Bharti Airtel emerged as the leader, particularly in the retail mobile and M2M segments.
Bharti Airtel bolstered its retail mobile subscriber base with a net addition of 50.94 lakh customers and topped the M2M category, amassing 7.69 crore connections. Following closely was Reliance Jio, which contributed 32.27 lakh new mobile subscribers, maintaining a commanding 39.21% share in the segment.
Broadband growth reflected a similar trend, with a total increase to 106.58 crore subscribers. Reliance Jio led this sector with 52.34 crore users, trailed by Bharti Airtel's 36.88 crore connections. The telecom sector's overall monthly growth rate marked an increase of 0.7% for March 2026.
