Amazon announced on Monday its plan to invest as much as $25 billion in Anthropic, an AI-focused startup, marking a strategic deepening of their relationship. Anthropic has committed to spending over $100 billion on Amazon's cloud technologies within the next decade, aiming to advance its models significantly.
The Seattle-based tech giant will initially contribute $5 billion, with a future investment of $20 billion, conditioned on reaching certain commercial milestones. This follows Amazon's earlier $8 billion investment in Anthropic, signaling its drive to support leading AI firms individual of its own AI endeavors.
Besides Amazon's rising stake in AI startups like Anthropic and OpenAI, it remains a key provider of infrastructure, especially in cloud computing.
