Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday took a significant step toward India's technological advancement by inaugurating the Amaravati Quantum Reference Facilities. The event, held on World Quantum Day, marked the launch of India's first sovereign hardware ecosystem and aimed at bolstering the country's capability in advanced computing systems.
The Quantum Reference Facilities, including Amaravati 1S and Amaravati 1Q, were developed at lightning speed over eight months and are set to transform Amaravati into a major quantum innovation hub. The initiative promises to provide researchers, industry players, and students with much-needed access to cutting-edge quantum systems, fostering exploration and development in quantum technologies.
This project is part of a broader vision that positions quantum technology as pivotal to future innovation, spanning areas from drug discovery to secure digital transactions. The facility, developed by a consortium involving top research institutes, breaks global monopolies by manufacturing 85% of components domestically, thus heralding a new era of self-reliance in strategic tech sectors for India.
