Baidu Unveils AI 'Lobsters' to Revolutionize Domestic Technology
Baidu launched a new range of AI products based on OpenClaw, focusing on agents described as 'lobsters'. These AI tools are designed to perform complex tasks with minimal human input. Baidu is exploring OpenClaw-based products following an increased interest in such technology in China.
On Tuesday, Chinese tech giant Baidu unveiled an array of artificial intelligence tools, capitalizing on the country's mounting interest in OpenClaw. This open-source framework enables agents to perform intricate tasks with less human intervention.
Baidu introduced a series of AI 'lobsters', a colloquial term for these agents, which include desktop software, cloud services, mobile apps, and smart-home integration. Designed to execute complex, multi-step endeavors like video editing, presentation creation, and research tasks, these agents aim to interconnect various applications and devices seamlessly.
During a company event, Baidu Executive Vice-President Shen Dou highlighted the potential of this technology to fundamentally alter software-device interactions, paving the way for an operating-system-level integration to unify hardware. Despite the system's early-stage imperfections, Baidu sees immense potential to reclaim its lead in China's AI market, as competitors such as Doubao, Yuanbao, and Qwen gain traction.
