In a significant move, Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced plans for a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in collaboration with Mahindra Group. This strategic development follows the C-390 Millennium aircraft's selection in the Indian Air Force's Medium Transport Aircraft program.
Designed to bolster local manufacturing and sustainment efforts, the facility will offer comprehensive services including maintenance, structural inspections, component repair, avionics support, and training. Such initiatives align with the company's commitment to the 'Make in India' campaign, ensuring high operational readiness and fleet availability.
Beyond supporting the Indian fleet, Embraer is exploring possibilities for India to become a regional MRO hub for other C-390 operators. The collaboration aims to escalate localization, contribute to workforce skill enhancement, and integrate Indian firms into the global supply chain.
