The IT industry body, Nasscom, has dismissed concerns about potential disruptions caused by advanced artificial intelligence (AI) in India's technology services sector. Instead, it underscored AI's transformative potential to redefine and enhance the industry's role.

Nasscom pointed out that while tools like Anthropic's Claude Cowork aim to automate functions across various sectors, fears of them bypassing the Indian IT engine are misplaced. Indian technology services work with global enterprises operating complex environments, thereby necessitating careful coordination with human expertise, industry knowledge, and contextual understanding.

Highlighting the shift towards large-scale AI deployment, Nasscom noted emerging growth areas such as legacy system modernization and AI-ready data foundations. The transition from AI experimentation to wide-scale use will see tech firms play a pivotal role, developing tailored solutions for measurable AI investment returns.
