Coupang's Data Breach: New Revelations and Ongoing Investigation
Coupang, a South Korean e-commerce company, revealed additional personal data leaks affecting 165,000 users amid an ongoing government investigation. The breach, first disclosed in November, impacted over 33 million customers. Sensitive information such as payment details was safe, and affected users were promptly informed.
South Korean e-commerce giant Coupang has uncovered a further leak of personal data involving 165,000 users, amid a continuing government-led probe into a significant data breach announced last year.
The company, under investigation since last year, reported that the newly identified leak consists of customer contact details such as names, phone numbers, and addresses. Importantly, no payment information, login credentials, or order histories were affected.
Coupang has assured compliance with governmental guidance by notifying affected users. The company clarified that these cases are part of the breach initially disclosed in November and not a new incident.
