Nestle Expands Guigoz Recall Amid New Toxin Standards in France

Nestle has expanded its recall of Guigoz infant formula to include additional batches following France's revision of cereulide toxin standards, the company reported on Wednesday. The cereulide toxin, known to cause nausea and vomiting, has been identified in ingredients from a Chinese supplier servicing multiple baby formula manufacturers, including Nestle, Danone, and Lactalis. This has resulted in recalls in numerous countries, heightening concerns among parents.

The Swiss company stated, "As methods for analyzing cereulide have evolved, we are voluntarily recalling a batch of Guigoz infant formula in addition to the batches already recalled." Previous recalls occurred in France in January and December.

Nestle's proactive recall measures underscore the ongoing efforts to adhere to stricter safety guidelines and ensure consumer safety amid evolving detection methods for potential contaminants in infant formulas.
