The Philippines will soon restore access to Elon Musk's AI creation, Grok, after its developers committed to removing problematic image-manipulation tools. These tools had raised significant child safety concerns, as confirmed by the nation's cybercrime investigation unit on Wednesday.
Grok's developers have reached out to assure Philippine authorities that their platform will prohibit content manipulation, addressing the core issue of the previously imposed ban. Despite lifting the restrictions, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) will closely monitor the platform to ensure adherence to local regulatory standards.
The initial ban on Grok and similar platforms arose from global actions by governments and regulators in Europe and Asia. They cracked down on AI-generated sexually explicit content, launching investigations, implementing bans, and demanding immediate safeguards.
