In a move set to revolutionize caller identification, telecom operators have embarked on pilot tests for Calling Name Presentation (CNAP), a feature designed to showcase the caller's name on incoming calls. This exciting advancement is slated for a nationwide rollout by March 31, 2026, according to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Reliable sources from DoT confirmed that Vodafone Idea has already initiated the CNAP pilot in the Haryana circle. The initiative is being matched by Jio, which will be conducting trials in the same region, allowing calls to flow nationwide with caller names displayed.
The pilots, commencing in one circle, signify the beginning of DoT's ambitious goal for a full-scale CNAP implementation across India. Insiders suggest that telecom operators are keen on accelerating this innovation for enhanced connectivity and user experience.
