Mumbai Indians coach Mahela Jayawardene has dismissed concerns over player burnout, specifically for key players like Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, after yet another disappointing IPL loss. Jayawardene emphasized the need for the team to regain its rhythm and confidence, rather than attributing their failures to fatigue from the T20 World Cup.
Jayawardene believes that the players remain professional despite having recently played in the World Cup, and that the team's current struggle is more a matter of inconsistency in both batting and bowling. With a heavy loss to Chennai Super Kings marking their fifth defeat in this IPL season, the coach insists that both units need to improve to achieve better results.
The former Sri Lanka skipper pointed out the importance of winning powerplays, which MI has struggled with, and advised the team to use the upcoming break to strategize for their remaining matches. He also defended MI skipper Pandya's performance, asserting that inconsistency is a collective issue, not an individual one.
