In a recent update to the ICC Women's T20I Batting Rankings, India's Shafali Verma has advanced to sixth position following her impressive half-century against South Africa. The match, part of an ongoing five-game series, ended in a loss for India, marking their second consecutive defeat in the series.
While Shafali's form remains strong, her teammate, Smriti Mandhana, has experienced a downturn, slipping one spot to fourth due to modest performances in the series. Meanwhile, India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur has seen improvement, climbing to 11th place after contributing significantly in the first T20I.
The South African side boasts strong standings too, with captain Laura Wolvaardt maintaining her fifth position and teammates Annerie Dercksen and Sune Luus climbing higher in the rankings. The series serves as a crucial warm-up for both India and South Africa as they gear up for the T20 World Cup.
