In a surprising move, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) chose not to name Virat Kohli in their starting XI against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Nonetheless, the star batsman was named among the Impact Players, signaling his readiness to take the field if necessary during the Wednesday encounter.

Kohli is grappling with an ankle injury he incurred during RCB's previous clash against Mumbai Indians, a match where he contributed significantly to his team's 18-run victory. The injury has slightly unbalanced RCB's batting lineup, particularly affecting the opening partnership he formed with Philip Salt.

Ahead of the game with LSG, Kohli was spotted with a leg bandage during practice, stirring concerns about his fitness. In a social media clip from LSG, Kohli appeared interacting with support staff member Kane Williamson and captain Rishabh Pant. Despite his current setback, Kohli has been formidable this season, averaging 59.66 with a strike rate of 162.72, which includes two fifties. His recent performance against Mumbai, which comprised a 38-ball 50, showcased his resilience.
