In a significant crackdown, four individuals have been apprehended in Latur city, Maharashtra, for allegedly managing an illegal IPL cricket betting operation from a moving vehicle, according to police reports on Wednesday.
The local crime branch, acting on intelligence, raided the suspects' car on Ambajogai Road, seizing property and cash valued at around Rs 13.73 lakh. The accused, Sachin Valse, Kirankumar Kendre, Gangadhar Ghadge, and Manish Panchakshari, reportedly utilized mobile phones and online platforms to accept wagers during IPL matches.
The police confiscated several mobile phones, a laptop, cash, and crucial betting records from the car. A legal case is now underway under Section 12(A) of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act, spearheaded by Shivajinagar Police as investigations continue.
