Ochoa, eyeing participation in his sixth World Cup, joins other notable players in friendly matches, starting with the Azteca Stadium reopening versus Portugal.
Veteran goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has been called back to the Mexico national squad for this month's World Cup warm-up games, marking a significant return under the guidance of coach Javier Aguirre. Aiming for his sixth World Cup appearance, Ochoa participates in friendlies against Portugal and Belgium.
The 40-year-old currently plays for Limassol in Cyprus and hopes to repeat his past World Cup successes as the Mexican side plans a dynamic kickoff in Group A starting against South Africa. The warm-up matches begin with a historic reopening of Mexico City's Azteca Stadium, followed by a clash at Chicago's Soldier Field.
These games also highlight Alvaro Fidalgo's debut for Mexico. Having joined Real Betis in February, Fidalgo bolsters a promising midfield. Mexico, co-hosting with the U.S. and Canada, is keen to showcase its evolving squad that combines seasoned players with fresh talents.
