Visa Scandal: Fake Wrestler Documents Uncovered in Human Trafficking Plot

The Hungarian Embassy in New Delhi has uncovered a potential human trafficking plot involving individuals posing as Indian wrestlers. Fake documents were submitted for visas to attend a supposed competition in Budapest, prompting scrutiny by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). The WFI confirmed that the documents were counterfeit.

The embassy sought clarification from the WFI, which quickly disclaimed the letter recommending 11 wrestlers and a manager for visas. The letter was deemed forged, with several inconsistencies noted, including inaccurate official details and a fabricated recommendation. This alert from the federation halted any visa processing based on the counterfeit document.

The WFI emphasized that official entries for international competitions come solely through the national body. As the case potentially points to a human trafficking attempt, authorities are anticipated to delve deeper into the issue. A thorough enquiry has been called to unearth the extent of the forgery and trafficking intentions.
