Ishan Kishan is confirmed to play against New Zealand as part of India’s T20 World Cup lineup, taking the spot ahead of Shreyas Iyer, announced skipper Suryakumar Yadav on Tuesday.
An injury sidelined Tilak Varma, leading to Kishan's selection as his left-handed substitute, and pushing Iyer to make a comeback for the initial matches set to begin on Wednesday.
Yadav expressed confidence in Kishan’s abilities at number three, emphasizing his consistent domestic performance and the need to reward his World Cup selection with playtime.
