Daniil Medvedev Aims for Grand Slam Resurgence in 2025
Tennis star Daniil Medvedev is refocusing after a challenging 2025 season. With a new coaching team, he won in Brisbane following an 882-day title drought. Despite three recent early Grand Slam exits, Medvedev seeks a career revival, aiming to win a second title at a location he's previously triumphed.
Daniil Medvedev, one of tennis's most captivating figures, struggled through much of 2025 but enters the Australian Open with a newfound vigor. The Russian athlete's return to form was marked by a victory in Almaty in October, ending a nearly three-year wait for a title.
The resurgence continued as Medvedev clinched the Brisbane International trophy, attributed to a revamped coaching approach. Guided by 2002 Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson and part-time advisor Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev's change came after his third consecutive first-round Grand Slam exit, leading to a split with coach Gilles Cervara.
Medvedev's fans hope for a return to past glories, reminiscent of his on-court battles against tennis legends. At 29, with 22 titles from different cities, Medvedev's quirky new objective is clear: to secure a second victory in a location where he's already tasted success.
