Gemma Dryburgh Sets Stage for Second LPGA Victory in Asia

Gemma Dryburgh, the Scottish golfer, is aiming for a memorable second LPGA victory in Asia after an impressive 7-under 65 in the Maybank Classic's first round. Her performance leaves her just a single stroke behind leader Hye-Jin Choi at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.

The hot and humid Malaysian weather posed a stark contrast to Dryburgh's native Scotland. However, with her experience in similar conditions in New Orleans, where she resides, Dryburgh adapted well, commenting that the grainy greens suited her style of play. She is currently tied for second place with Italy's Benedetta Moresco.

Among other notable players, defending champion Yin Ruoning and world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul both finished at 68. Thitikul is no stranger to success in Malaysia and expressed feeling at home here. The LPGA's Asian swing continues with its final event next week in Japan.
