Rain Halts Exciting T20 Clash Between Australia and India
The first T20 match between Australia and India in Canberra was abandoned due to rain. India scored 97 for one in less than half the overs. Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten. The match was reduced to 18 overs but eventually stopped after further rain interruptions.
The opening Twenty20 International between cricket giants Australia and India was cut short by persistent rain in Canberra on Wednesday. The Indian team, restricted to batting for less than half of their scheduled overs, managed a score of 97 for one.
Shubman Gill was poised at 37 runs and captain Suryakumar Yadav at 39 when the five-match series' first face-off was halted for the second and final time after 9.4 overs. Earlier, opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 19 before the rain interruption reduced the match to 18 overs per team.
India appeared keen to capitalize on their recent ODI momentum but faced another setback with all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of the initial three T20s due to a neck injury. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer received hospital treatment following an injury sustained in Sydney.
