Aston Martin narrowly avoided penalties after committing a minor procedural breach of Formula One's cost cap regulations last year. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) attributed the breach to exceptional and unpredictable circumstances beyond the team's control.
The Silverstone-based team failed to submit signed versions of its audited financial statements by the March deadline, although they did not exceed the cost cap itself. In response, Aston Martin proactively entered an Accepted Breach Agreement in September to resolve the issue.
The FIA emphasized there was no evidence suggesting Aston Martin sought or gained an undue advantage from the breach. All other Formula One teams and engine manufacturers were found in compliance, despite earlier speculation of a more significant violation.
