Indian badminton players Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth are spearheading the nation’s efforts at this year's Hylo Open, which begins Tuesday at Saarlandhalle in Saarbrucken, Germany. Notably, Lakshya Sen stands out as the highest-ranked Indian competitor in the men’s singles, currently holding the No. 16 position globally.

Sen, who secured a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics semi-finals, has faced a challenging 2025 BWF World Tour season with 11 initial round exits in 17 tournaments, including a recent disappointment at the French Open. Despite these setbacks, he is eyeing a comeback at the Hylo Open, a tournament he won in 2019 when it was categorized as a BWF Super 100 event.

Sen will face stern competition from France's Christo Popov, the fifth seed and reigning champion, in the first round. With a balanced 1-1 head-to-head record, both athletes are poised for a riveting showdown. Adding strength to India’s representation, Kidambi Srikanth, who reached the Malaysia Masters finals recently, will confront Kiran George in a unique all-Indian matchup in the opening round.
