The International Hockey Federation (FIH) confirmed that Pakistan will not participate in the upcoming Junior Hockey World Cup, scheduled for November in India. FIH is set to announce Pakistan's replacement for the tournament, to be held in Chennai and Madurai, soon.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) communicated their withdrawal, citing tensions with India as the main reason. This withdrawal marks Pakistan's second pullout from an Indian event, following the Asia Cup earlier this year.
Amid these tensions, the Indian government has adopted a policy to avoid bilateral sporting contests with Pakistan, though multination tournaments will proceed. PHF has also expressed a desire to compete in the World Cup at a neutral location, advocating for the development of their players.
