Rising Tensions: Japan's Naval Involvement Sparks Concern

The involvement of the Japanese navy in joint drills with the United States is raising alarms, according to Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. She stated that this move could escalate existing tensions.
Commencing on Monday, the annual exercises called 'Balikatan', meaning 'shoulder-to-shoulder', will continue until May 8. These are the most extensive drills to date, involving numerous nations.
This year's exercises mark Japan's first active participation. The exercises also include forces from Australia, Canada, France, and New Zealand, underlining the expansive international collaboration.
