Flooding claimed 12 lives in northern Haiti, impacting Port-de-Paix, Saint-Louis du Nord, and Anse-a-Foleur, as reported by local newspaper Le Nouvelliste.
The Dominican Republic, sharing the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, has reported four fatalities, with victims being swept away by floodwaters. An infant died tragically when a wall collapsed in her home. Authorities reported that 30,000 people have evacuated, with rains forecasted to intensify over the weekend.
Meanwhile, in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico, officials caution residents to avoid flooded roads due to continuous rains. Earlier in Haiti, a stampede at Laferriere Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site, resulted in 25 deaths during a rain-induced panic at an annual event.
