In a significant move towards ecological conservation, the Haryana government has approved an expansive plan encompassing afforestation, renewable energy adoption, and wildlife protection. The decision, made during the 10th Steering Committee meeting led by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, involves a comprehensive Rs 298.43 crore Annual Plan of Operations (APO) under CAMPA, officials announced on Wednesday.
Key measures include the plantation of over 20 lakh saplings across 1,882 hectares and maintenance of existing plantations over 4,518 hectares. Additionally, urban areas will see the development of dense forests using the Miyawaki technique, improving air quality and urban green cover. Renewable energy efforts are highlighted by the installation of 15 KW solar systems in forest offices across 22 districts.
The government has also allocated Rs 33 crore for Catchment Area Treatment in the Shivalik Hills and Aravalli Range, focusing on soil conservation and water harvesting. Further initiatives aim at bolstering forest and wildlife security, enhancing employment opportunities for locals, and fostering environmental awareness among students. The plan, pending approval from the National CAMPA, is a strategic investment in Haryana's environmental future.
