Diverse Artemis II Crew Embarks on Historic Lunar Voyage
Artemis II has launched, with astronauts undertaking humanity's first lunar voyage in over 50 years. Commander Reid Wiseman, along with pilot Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen, form NASA's most inclusive lunar crew to date. They will cover thousands of miles, reaching just beyond the moon, before making a direct return journey. This mission is a prelude to more ambitious plans, aiming for a moon landing in 2028.
Navigating an unexpected communication glitch early in the mission, the crew quickly resolved the issue and continued onto a higher orbit. As the Artemis II team prepares for their lunar journey, they practice essential tasks such as docking the Orion capsule, setting the stage for future missions.
