Kolkata and its neighboring regions were shaken on Tuesday evening as an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck with its epicenter located in Myanmar, according to an official from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Residents in high-rise buildings and office employees experienced noticeable aftershocks when the quake hit at approximately 9:05 pm. The tremor lasted only a few seconds, leaving the community startled but with no immediate damage or injuries reported.
