The Bombay High Court has formed a high-powered committee to address escalating air pollution in Mumbai and its metropolitan region.
Led by former Himachal Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Amjad Sayed, with participation from ex-Bombay HC judge Anuja Prabhudessai, the committee aims to ensure compliance with court orders and review reports from municipal commissioners.
The panel will propose immediate, medium, and long-term measures, consult experts, and guide the creation of a Graded Response Action Plan specifically for Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is tasked with supporting the committee, and any failure to cooperate could lead to contempt proceedings.
