A tragic incident unfolded in the Agastyamuni area of Rudraprayag district as a leopard attack claimed the life of a local farmer on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as 55-year-old Manwar Singh Bisht, was attacked while on his way to plough his fields early in the morning in Jondla Pali village. His family sounded the alarm after he failed to return home, eventually finding his body near a cowshed.

In response, authorities, including Rudraprayag Divisional Forest Officer Rajat Suman and Sub-District Magistrate Bhagat Singh Phoonia, visited the site and confirmed the cause of death. To prevent further incidents, quick response teams have been activated with modern equipment, and a cage has been set up to capture the leopard. The affected family received immediate financial aid of Rs 1.8 lakh.
