According to police reports, Chandel was a passenger on the e-rickshaw, which flipped after the driver, Naj Mohammad alias Asif, attempted to avoid a collision with a scooter. Chandel was quickly transported to Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan, but doctors declared him dead due to severe head and facial injuries.

The accident also resulted in minor injuries for Pushpa, 26, who sustained an injury to her right foot, and the driver, who hurt his hand. The police have detained the driver and seized the vehicle, while a crime team and forensic experts are reviewing the scene. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered as investigations continue.
