Cloud Seeding Controversy in Burari: AAP Leader Raises Concerns
AAP leader Sanjeev Jha has criticized a cloud seeding trial in Burari, Delhi, for being conducted without notifying residents or public representatives, contravening SOPs. The trial, part of Delhi's efforts to combat pollution, involved silver iodide and sodium chloride but did not result in rainfall due to low moisture levels.

AAP leader and Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha has expressed strong objections to a recent cloud seeding trial in Delhi’s Burari area, alleging procedural violations. He claims the trial was conducted without informing local stakeholders, including residents and public representatives.
Jha highlighted the lack of communication by stating that even as the local MLA, he was unaware of the trial until after it occurred. He criticized the government's secrecy, contrasting it with highly publicized events like the arrival of Rafale jets. Jha raised concerns about the chemicals used, demanding a comprehensive report.
The trial is part of Delhi's plan to tackle pollution through scientific means, according to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Conducted by IIT Kanpur, it tested the system across several locations, despite low moisture levels preventing rainfall. This initiative aims to pioneer technological approaches to improving air quality in the capital.
