In a bold political move, K Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, launched a new political party named 'Telangana Rashtra Sena' on Saturday. The announcement took place at an event on the outskirts of the city.
Having been suspended from the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) in September 2025, Kavitha has been channeling her efforts toward addressing public issues via Telangana Jagruthi, a cultural organization she presides over. The suspension followed her allegations against her cousins, T Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar, claiming they tarnished her father's reputation regarding the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.
The original party, Telangana Rashtra Samiti, underwent a name change to Bharat Rashtra Samiti in 2022. Kavitha's initiative seems to be a significant step in her political journey, marking a fresh chapter post-expulsion.
