The political landscape witnessed a dramatic shift as Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh announced plans to seek the disqualification of Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, and Sandeep Pathak from the Rajya Sabha. This move follows the trio's decision to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In a public statement shared on X, Singh declared his intention to submit a formal letter to the Rajya Sabha chairman, arguing that the three MPs should be disqualified under the anti-defection law. Citing the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution, Singh contended that their actions constituted voluntary resignation from their original party.
Chadha and Pathak, alongside Mittal, earlier disclosed their departure from AAP in a joint press conference, claiming a significant defection within the party ranks. Chadha stated that a majority of AAP's Rajya Sabha MPs are forming a new faction ahead of formally aligning with the BJP, highlighting a pivotal moment in the reshaping of party affiliations.
