In a dramatic turn of events, Aam Janata Unnayan Party chief Humayun Kabir has accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of bribing several of his candidates ahead of the polls. Kabir alleges that 27 of his candidates were purchased, purportedly ranging from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 30 lakh in various seats across Bengal, reducing his contestation from 142 to 115 seats.

The political unrest escalated during polling in Murshidabad, as Kabir was met with fierce protests from Trinamool supporters in Shibnagar village. Demonstrators, dubbing Kabir a 'BJP agent,' surrounded his vehicle and demanded his departure, tensioning the atmosphere around the polling station.

Kabir's claims, combined with accusations against TMC leader Mamata Banerjee for her alleged vote polarization strategies using Hindu appeasement tactics, add another layer of complexity to the political battle in Bengal. The central forces' intervention helped defuse the situation, although much remains at stake as election results approach.
