Tensions in the Gulf region escalated as Iran's joint military command threatened to cease regional trade if the United States doesn't lift its blockade of Iranian ports. Despite these threats, US President Donald Trump declared in a Wednesday interview that the conflict with Iran was nearing its end.
Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced potential secondary sanctions targeting financial institutions doing business with Iran, describing the move as the 'financial equivalent' of a military assault. Negotiations for a ceasefire between the US and Iran are advancing, with another round of talks anticipated, although a US official revealed no formal agreement has yet been reached.
A Pakistani delegation arrived in Tehran for continued diplomatic engagements, following historical discussions between Israel and Lebanon in Washington. However, Israel continues military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, with recent attacks causing multiple casualties among Lebanese rescue workers.
